Minister of Power, Works and Housing, Babatunde
Fashola, yesterday gave reasons why most Nigerian Engineers are boycotted by
Federal government during the award of major infrastructural projects. Fashola
disclosed this when he spoke with the executives of the Nigerian Society of
Engineers, NSE, who paid him a visit in Abuja yesterday.
“If there was no vacuum,
there would not be foreign engineering consultants and contractors in Nigeria.
Unless we honestly stand up and accept that there is a vacuum, we look in the
mirror and tell ourselves that we honestly do not like what we see, it will not
change. I can tell you from experience when I was a state governor, that when I
advertised for rail project, no Nigerian firm bidded for it. Government will
not stop the development of the country, if you are not ready.”he said.
