Sports enthusiast and former athletes in Bosnia. have taken it upon themselves to reclaim some of the glory sarajevo savored as host of the 1984 Olympic and in the process rekindle the fame of international co-operation.
Since the country lacks the resource to rebuild the Olympic facility, that were destroyed in the deadly war that followed the breakup of Yugoslavia, Volunteers bought tools and roll up their sleeves and got to work.
We bought some tools with out own money and started cleaning the tracks from vegetation, debris and mud, Senad Omanovic the head of Bosnian Bobsleigh Federation recalled. We had trees growing out of the tracks.
The 1992 -1995 Bosnian war was the most brutal conflict in Europe soil since world war II. It tool over 100,000 lives and turned more than half the population into refugees.
It took Omanovic and his team mates years to clean the Bob, as word spread through the world that the Olympic track has been cleaned, teams in the world asked omanovic if they can come to practice there
